Planning

The image shows a lively public plaza at sunset, surrounded by modern mid-rise apartment buildings with green walls and balconies. The plaza is paved with light tiles and includes wooden benches, raised planters with greenery and small trees. People of all ages—families, couples, and individuals—are walking, sitting, and socialising. There are outdoor seating areas with umbrellas near the building entrances, suggesting cafes or restaurants. Tall trees frame the scene, and the sunlight creates a welcoming community space.

Overview of planning applications

Approval to redevelop Waterloo South will involve a series of planning applications, starting with a Concept Application. This will be followed by more detailed applications for specific stages or components of the development.

For information about current Applications and opportunities to have a say, follow the links below.

A view from above of Waterloo South. The image shows old, low-rise houses and proposed new, taller apartment buildings. The new buildings are grouped together and look modern, with different colours and shapes from the older homes. Green parks and open spaces are placed between the new buildings. Around the area, there are tree-lined streets and community buildings. The picture shows how the proposed new, higher buildings and parks will fit in with the existing neighbourhood.

Concept Application and Rezoning

Sets the ‘big picture’ plan for Waterloo South. It shows the location, shape and height of future buildings, parks and streets, as well as areas planned for community use, shops and businesses.

The area is densely built, with a mix of tall towers and mid-rise structures. In the background, a city skyline with additional skyscrapers is visible, suggesting it is close to a central business district. The overall scene conveys a vibrant, newly developed urban environment with significant integration of greenery among the buildings.
